Design enables traffic surveillance and management in unified mobile network
Springfield, VA – May 8, 2006 – Video Convergence, the video surveillance products and integration services division of Cornet Technology, Inc. (CTI), announced the iVDO Stax Video Encoder Card at ITS America 2006. The iVDO Stax Video Encoder Card is designed to fit in the Cisco 3200 Mobile Router. Targeted for use by police, fire and emergency response vehicles within a metropolitan area, the iVDO Stax is designed to facilitate mobile traffic surveillance and management as part of a solution that Cisco calls a “Metropolitan Mobile Network.”
The iVDO Stax Video Encoder Card will be introduced at the Video Convergence booth #519 at ITS America 2006 May 7-9 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
Designed to address the need for mobile transportation surveillance and management outside the traffic management center, the iVDO Stax Video Encoder Card encodes either NTSC or PAL signals into MPEG-4 video streams for worldwide compatibility. With integrated audio capability and low end-to-end latency -- 200 ms at 5 Mbps -- the iVDO Stax Video Encoder Card provides the necessary capabilities for the Cisco 3200 mobile router to facilitate “video anywhere” in a unified metropolitan mobile network.
Chuck Merino, Director of Business Development, Video Convergence division, said, “Our primary goal is to work with Cisco to provide a secure standards-based broadband mobility solution that seamlessly integrates wired and wireless IP infrastructure across a metropolitan area. By adding video capability into mobile routers, the iVDO Stax Video Encoder Card is designed to enable real-time video surveillance within emergency first responder vehicles and as part of fixed road side unit routers. With access to this information, emergency first responders can more quickly and accurately assess, address and resolve traffic incidents.”
